If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram (lmc_esq) then you know that I've moved. I'm really happy about the move not only because of it's proximity to a city, but the actual position is one that I'm really happy to have. I've spent the past two weeks trying to make my new place "home" , comfortable, upbeat and colorful.
For financial and practical reasons, I didn't want to spend alot. Hubby will hopefully be in the U.S soon so to invest in certain pieces right now feels futile if I can wait until his arrival. It also gives me a few more months of "solo living"; uncompromising on the colors and patterns that I might like but that he might give me the 'sideeye" on.
My first DIY project was a dresser - I needed a dresser but I didn't want to spend alot of money because I know that I will eventually buy an entire set soon. My colleague put me on to Freecycle.org, and I was able to find a free dresser less than a mile away. I figured if I could get a dresser then I could use it as is or decorate it as I like.
This is the before....
The process....
and the after...
The next project was simple - my walk-in closet is wonderful but I want to maximize the space. As I packed, I put my belts into plastic shoe boxes but there was no way that I would be able to see all of them when I moved. As I "pinned" different ideas I saw a really clever and affordable DIY here.
I bought a over the door towel rack for about $2.50 and purchased a pack of shower clips (the ones that close).
Loop the belts onto the hook and you're all done!
I have some more projects down the pipeline but I just wanted to share :)
What do you think of my home improvements so far?
