I have a bad relationship with shorts... we don't get along AT. ALL.
I have tried every brand, every style, every length and it just does not work. This spring I was determined to give shorts another try for the summer.
It's just not working.
I only have 3 pairs of shorts and I needed them for hiking in South Africa - they are bermuda style and really just served the purpose. I really don't know when I clicked the dislike button in my head that I didn't like shorts, but I've really tried to figure it out with no success.
When I read one my favorite columns "Big Girl in a Skinny World" I was glad to see that I wasn't the only one. Although the article had some really good suggestions, I just couldn't shake it - shorts are just not my thing. Stubborn me, I'm determined to find a pair that I can stand by the end of the summer.
I went out last week and tried on various pairs of shorts, even ordered a couple of pairs online some just to check... no go. One pair was stuck to my thighs, the others felt too short and the other pair had no stretch. The other day I did a simple DIY version which didn't turn out too bad, perhaps I'll take a picture when I finally wear them. Until then, I'll keep trying...

I don't bother with shorts. I wear capri's. However, last year I did find some heavier cotton knit knee length shorts (Walmart online) last summer. I think they were Danskin. I noticed scooter skirts are making a comeback but they are usually too short for me. Loose cotton clothing works for me in the summer--skirts, capris, modified caftans, dresses, etc. Hope you find something-most summer stuff is on sale now.
I'm like you I don't know when I switched the off button but it definitely is off. Recently I tried to give shorts anOther try too (with 90 degree weather in June I don't think I'll make it in Capris) I found an ok pair of Bermuda type shorts in old navy. They aren't that bad and only $12 so if I toss them after a wear or 2 I won't feel so bad
