Morning!
How many of you have been tuning in to the TLC series "The Big Sexy"? I love the show because it's a real look into the lives of a plus size woman in a big city - last night's episode really cracked me up because it was all about the dating scene and how tricky those waters can be.
Leslie Medlik and I met a few years ago, so when I found out that she would be a part of "The Big Sexy" I knew viewers would be in for a treat because Leslie is uber confident, funny, tells it like it is and has an amazing sense of style. She gives the gift of "style" to others as a personal shopper, stylist, and a wardrobe consultant for woman of all sizes (check out her site here). Leslie was awesome enough to answer some questions about her background and her part on "The Big Sexy"... gotta love her!

LMC:
What made you want to be a part of the Big Sexy
cast?
LM: I want to show people an example of a healthy plus size woman who lives life to the fullest.
My hope is that other women will see the women of Big Sexy and feel
empowered and inspired to love themselves no matter what size they are.LMC: Tell us a little about yourself: Where were you born? Where did you grow up? Hobbies & favorite pastimes?
LM: I
was born and raised in Chicago. When I was 28 years old I moved to San
Francisco. After exploring life on the west coast for a couple of
years, I decided that it was time to move to NYC and start my fashion
career. It goes without saying that styling, shopping and thrifting are
some of my favorite activities. On summer days, you can usually find
me on the beach, riding my bike or walking in the park
LMC: What has been the response to the show so far?
LM: As
with all reality TV shows, everyone has an opinion and it ranges from
love to hate. I try not to read all of the talk that's out there. I
guess we will just have to wait and see what people think after they
actually watch the show.
LMC: What’s your take on being a plus size woman in New York City?
LM: It's good and
bad. It's good because NYC is the most diverse city in the country and
thus we tend to be more accepting of people or maybe it's just that we
don't have time to concern ourselves with them since we are always on
the go. It's bad, because there is a lot of pressure to look stylish,
and be thin enough to fit designer clothes.

LMC: What can we expect from this series?
LM: 5 beautiful, sexy plus size women who love themselves and know how to have fun in the Big Apple and some other cities too ;)
LMC: The most important question…. What’s in your
closet?
LM: Lots of Vintage dresses,
over-sized shirts, teggings in every color (an amazing hybrid of tights
and leggings from Re/Dress) and a variety of belts
LMC: What one word would describe your personality?
LM: Only one word? That seems impossible but if I have to choose, it would be humorous.
LMC: How are you similar and different from the other
ladies of Big Sexy?
LM: We are all similar
in that we have struggled with being plus size women but have all made a
conscious decision to embrace our size and love ourselves. I think I'm
different from the other ladies in the way that I call it like I see
it. I'm straight to the point and don't like to beat around the bush.
LMC: What do you think are the biggest misconceptions about plus size women?
LMC: Any last words?
LM: Love yourself!
If you havn't been watching already make sure to tune into "The Big Sexy" , it airs Tuesday nights at 10 PM (EST) on TLC.
