One day a friend sarcastically asked me if there were any plus size sororities. Hitting up Google (seriously, what would we do without it?) I found that indeed there was a plus size sorority. (my friend felt extremely "less than intelligent"...moving on) I started to look up their information and was intrigued with what I saw. I knew that highlighting this sorority on Luvin' My Curves was a no-brainer.I'm not a member of any sorority, but I highly respect organizations and groups that are made with a collective positive purpose in mind.
Chi Zeta Theta Sorority, Inc is the first Greek-lettered organization that focuses on issues affecting "woman of size", but also focuses on issues that affect women in general. Founded in 2005 by Janelle Myers, Chi Zeta Theta's vision is to represent the plus size woman by "celebrating within, uplifting throughout". The sorority performs extensive community building, and works on programs dedicated to such issues as diabetes, self esteem and domestic violence. Contrary to what someone may initially think, you do not have to be a plus-size woman to become a member.
Not only because service is a huge part of my passion and daily job but also because it's the right thing to do - it's no surprise that I am in love with the sorority's annual signature service project Que-.Tee F.I.TS!, a plus-size clothing drive.
The more I read about Chi Zeta Theta the more proud I am that the plus-size community is making strides to come together in a positive and empowering manner. I could not have imagined a Full Figured Fashion Week or a sorority dedicated to plus-size women when I was younger. I never saw many plus-size women who were truly happy with the skin that they were in. Can you imagine the positive messages that a young curvy girl can have access to right now?!

This is very interesting. I think these ladies are great and I like that they welcome everybody. The plus-sized woman's clothing drive is a commendable service project. Thanks for spotlighting these awesome curvy women.
I am one of the co-founders of Chi Zeta Theta Sorority, Inc. Being a member of CZT has meant everything to me because it gave me a place to feel confident in who I am with a group of like-minded women. I love my sisters because unlike most sororities that seem to feel the need to break you down to rebuild you up to their standards, CZT is a sisterhood of women that truly represent what sisterhood means. Being a plus size woman is not easy so it is nice to have women to turn to who understand your struggle and will give you comfort or a swift kick in the backside if you need it. I love my Que-tees.
I love Chi Zeta Theta. I am one of the newest members of this illustrious organization and becoming a member meant everything to me. To see all of these STRONG women of different backgrounds and cultures was so amazing to me I had to work extra hard to be a part of their sisterhood. I am not a plus size woman but I have an idealistic mind and heart, please trust and believe I will go to the ends of the earth for all of my sorors, the world is made up of all kinds of people not just a size 0-4 and for my sorors to stand and embrace their curves I will always love them for that.

In the spring of 2009 I along with three other young vibrant talented dedicated young women were selected and crossed into this Outstanding organization. To be apart of the 1st Sorority that Celebrates and Uplifts the Beauty of the plus size woman is a humbling experience. Chi Zeta Theta Sorority Inc to me is being the voice of change to the world. To me it is being the representation of women, especially Plus Size women showing Beauty, Intelligence ,Sophistication, Diversity, Class, Dedication, Strength, Uniqueness, Resiliency in itself is a liberating Experience.

I became a member of this sophisticated organization in the winter of this year. Before, I was an interest for about three years. I was able to experience the expansion of the organization and I just had to join. Besides us being the first sorority to embrace plus sized women, we are diverse in culture, size,race, backgrounds, and lifestyles. Even if you are a member of another sorority, you can still be apart of our organization. I love my sisters and I worked hard to be able to say that. We are here to stay and expand around the globe. I wear my letters with pride and sing the praises of my sorority to all that will hear. We are apart of a movement that is bigger than us alone, but we are making a positive mark. I look forward to welcoming more like-minded women into this organization.
