Good Morning!!
The nature of my new job has me around students mostly and as a result I sometimes feel my outfit choices don't feel as fun. Because I'm no longer in my element (the city!!), I feel sort of out of place. I thrive off of seeing folks taking chances with fashion and making it work for them using the city streets as their catwalk- needless to say I miss the city terribly. I love to dress up, but when my audience is fellow faculty and teenagers, it's not as much fun anymore. I'm surrounded by khakis and cords of which I own none; one of my students told me that my "city style" stands out from the "monochromatic, homogeneous madness" that they see here. A strong statement, but he has a point.
Admittedly, being the "newbie" at a job is never easy and it's been a rough transition for me on many different fronts. After a ROUGH couple of days at work , I needed a "pick me up". I was in the mood to hold my head high and strut HARD, so I did.
I wore a favorite closet staple dress that I got from DOTS years ago , I loved to wear this dress in the summertime with flats, but I needed to be careful that not only is it chilly but the scoop neck allows for major cleavage- something I can't flaunt around my students. So....
I paired it with a simple black cardigan from Ashley Stewart and belted it - which not only makes my waist look smaller but covers up the chest....
On my tired days it's admittedly been a challenge to maintain - it's easy to fall into a sense of mediocrity and fashion routine- I'm thankful for new friends who help me keep my style up. Though my heel may get caught in the mud, I'm still strutting....
Isnt' it great when you can pull an outfit together and make it work? Spirits lifted, smile back on my face mission accomplished!
P.S: I know my office is bare.... I'm still working on it dont' judge me. ;)

It's always so good to just be yourself! And a fashionista, you are! Girl those stockings and shoes are da bomb! You certainly brought da funk with those shoes! Pay Less! I love them for my flats.
You certainly know how to pull together an outfit and make it work! I'm going to be watching you do your magic and trying to learn a few things! (I'm a bit fashion challenged, but I do love shoes!)
"monochromatic, homogenous madness"! That's me most of the time! not khakis, though! ;-)

The shoes and the stockings are the bizness! Superhot!
Hi ,
I just wanted to say that I love reading your blog.
As a bride-to-be on a tight budget, I recently discovered an online bridal jewelry store called GlamForLess.com.
Though their website is plain and simple, I found some great deals on jewelry sets for me and my bridesmaids.
I think other readers on a tight budget may also find GlamForLess.com to be helpful.
You may want to check them out at http://www.glamforless.com/ and inform other readers about it.
Keep up the good work.
Best regards,
Lisa Bloom
I love your sense of style--stay away from khakis and cords, PUHLEEEASE! Just because everyone else wears a "uniform" doesn't mean that you have to. It would be a shame, I'm sure everyone enjoys seeing what you decide to wear for the day. Keep having fun!
love those tights!
The outfit is so adorable!
