Norma Kamali takes on plus size..

Norma Kamali, well-known for her parachute clothing, sleeping bag coat and jersey cloth clothing has stepped into the plus size realm..... the 5 pieces are available for pre-order over at Nordstroms. So what do you think?

(from l-r, Drape Neck Halter Band Top $218, Wide Leg Pants $218, Dolman Sleeve Cardigan $238, Side Drape Dress $298, Open Front Hooded Riding Jacked $358)

My top pick? I'm feeling the Side Drape Dress...perfect for a spring date. (It's snowing here in NYC so I'm thinking warm thoughts!)

Have a great weekend!

Where are the curves???

Maybe it's just me... I don't get it .
I love Toccara, I really do. However I never bought into the fact that she was "plus-size", curvy yes, plus-size no. But I liked the fact that she was different and actually wanted to represent for us curvy girls. Even after I saw her in person and came to the conclusion that the only thing plus size about her was her chest I was still a fan.

So this....
kind of disappointed me... I mean ,where are the curves? (yes, the dress and shoes are cute) For someone who built their celebrity around being plus size, I'm a bit "conflustered" (confused + flustered). If she's slimming down for her health, then that's cool, but something doesn't sit right with me... I get the feeling that's she's trying to conform to the "single size standard".

Thoughts?

For the Lover in You....

Chocolates, Flowers, Candles, Dinner… all the makings of a special night. What will you be doing this Valentine’s Day?

I’ll be enjoying my pharmacy bought chocolate, looking at my beautiful flowers and perhaps fix myself something exotic to eat. However if you’re coupled up, what’s in your dresser drawer ?? (Heck, even if you're single.... what's in your dresser drawer?)

The Pretty Pear has 2 excellent posts
about Lane Bryant’s Valentine’s Lingerie, definitely check them out: Adorable New Lingerie, More Goodies For Valentine's Day

I myself purchased the Soft Cup Rumba Babydoll from Lane Bryant.

I have a tendency to pick up cutiepie lingerie pieces .. hey you never know.

I was feeling this Black & White Embroidered Teddy over at Torrid.

this one was sweet too..... (too bad I'd be spilling out of both)

I came across some more daring pieces over at Hipsandcurves.com, the Ruffle Cup & Rhinestone Bra w/ Rhinestone Boyleg Pant and the Lace Trim Satin Teddiette were my absolute favorites. While not as demure as the Lane Bryant and Torrid pieces, they definitely hold their own. Either way your significant other will be happy. (Psst: Hipsandcurves is offering free shipping for orders over $85)

Happy Luvin!!

Change is good...

I never thought that I would be asked for style/fashion advice, could I have missed my calling?!?!

Some week ago, I met S at Lee Lee Valise as we were both trying on clothes and I was just being my nosy self giving her tips on what she could wear with what she was trying on. We exchanged info and made plans to go shopping together.

Since she had never heard of Ashley Stewart, I decided to take her there and then take a trip down Fulton St. to Lane Bryant.

To me Ashley Stewart is at times has more playful pieces than Lane Bryant, I can often go in there and get a simple cute dress or a shirt for a night out. However sometimes, I come across some pieces that make me go HMM?!! (like the fake leather, midriff bustier), but no one’s perfect & everyone has different taste.

Anyway she and I went through the store, I picked out pieces that I thought she might like or at least try on. I noticed that she was like me in a way, more likely to pick up the basic pieces in the basic colors.

No prints, no color… however I like that she was totally open to at least trying on certain things although it wasn’t the norm for her.It didn't take long for her to start looking to try on funky pieces that she was unlikely to see anyone else around her in. Off to the dressing room we went... she is a trooper because that was a lot of clothes!! (more were on the chair and didn't make it in the picture )

Some things fit really well, others didn't do her justice. .. but that's the joy of a dressing room, you get to figure it all out. Some pieces, like the high-waisted grey skirt and the yellow, black, white, grey wrap dress were out of her comfort zone but she tried every piece on and was so willing to take a chance … . See .. change is good!
