Bottom's Up

Morning!!

Today's Lesson: What's on underneath is just as, if not more important than what's on top.

When I was younger, my grandmother would go on and on about underwear, panties, bras, girdles, etc. I would hear her talking, but I promise you I wasn't listening to word she was saying. I mean why would I wear a girdle!! It's tight, uncomfortable and I was 12!!!
Twelve years later and I'm sitting here at work wearing something to that effect, just to tame the bulge and keep the curve lines in order. My grandmother's no longer here physically but I finally hear her.

Underwear, in my opinion is what makes an outfit "fit". That gorgeous dress would be nothing without the right bra, the right waist belt (if you need it) and the right panties!! Ever notice how your favorite t-shirt fits differently when you finally get the right bra on???

So.. for the curvy people here a few suggestions:

1. SPANX is your friend!!

If you want to control the bulge while you're out, yet can't seem to get in touch with the idea of buckling/snapping yourself up, try SPANX. SPANX holds it in just right without cutting off your circulation or forcing you to hold a ballerina pose. Don't sleep on it yall.. it comes in panties (try the power panties!!), tights, and all out body shapers. P.S It'll work wonders for that dress you're dying to wear for the holidays... oh yeah and it's food forgiving so you can eat!!!

2. Visible Panty Line is not sexy...
I don't really think there's much I need to say on this... look in a mirror before you leave the house. If you must wear the "suck-em-in" pants then make sure you have the type of panty that doesn't show (seamless, or a thong if that's your style) Nuff said.

3. Drooping breasts... not a good idea either. Get Sized Once a Year.
It is IMPERATIVE to get sized once a year. Bras lose their elasticity over time and as our bodies change so does our bra size. For instance, I lost 10 lbs and was a whole new bra size because my band size went down... ( as the band size goes down the cup size may go up, weird huh?) Wearing the wrong bra size could be FATAL to your outfit...dangerous curves with breasts that look down and depressed.. you might as well have stayed home!!
Some of my favorite places to get fitted: ( in NY)
1. My Intimacy
2. Town Shop

4. Think about going Euro.
It's been my experience that European bras fit us curvy girls better than American made bras. If your sides tend to spill from the bra band, an Eurpean made bra might be the answer. Their cups tend to scoop from the side front, resulting in a cleaner line. Check out the PrimaDonna Line.... they are a lifesaver.

5. Invest in undergarment staples.....

Make sure you have at least one everyday bra in each staple color (black, white, beige). From there you can exapand to investing in a strapless (if you are fortunate to find one in your size), racerback. If you can get one (maybe a bra maker is reading this post!!please make a convertible in a 44H thank you), maybe a convertible bra that will take of everything.

6. ... but every once in awhile splurge on the good stuff.
I am too broke to spend my duckets on the fancy, frilly bra and panty sets. When it gets to my size, it costs way to much and I have textbooks to buy! However.... every purple moon... I splurge on the good stuff! It may only be about 1 or 2 frilly sets every 6 months to a year.. but it's in my drawer nonetheless. :)

That's all for today... have a great one!

I should be studying but....

I'd rather be blogging about things that make me happy. Plus, since this is my first post.. shouldn't I be paying more attention to blogging to the masses than reading for Legal Profession... in my world the answer is yes.
I'm a "closet-fashionista", I love clothes, shoes, bags, etc.. yet I fell into the terrible abyss called "no self-confidence" and didn't feel like a plus-size gal like me could BRING IT though my closet and my fashion taste told me opposite. I'm finally at a place in my life, where those thoughts are things of the past and hopefull I can share with you all....

laugh with me at those who don't appreciate the curves, they just don't get it...
cry with me, when I try on clothes that I adore and they don't fit...
share with me... if there's something I'm missing
and most of all ENJOY
